Who Do You Think Is The Best Brand Of 2010?
The award dinner takes place on the 18th November in London and is hosted by Lisa Snowdon, with Alexandra Burke performing.
So who are in the running for the Marketing Society Brand of the Year 2010 award? The following are just a few and the full list can be found at www.annualdinner2010.com/vote where you can vote too.
After their domination of the UK market, with pretty much everyone owning an Apple product whether it is an iPod, iPhone or their newly launched iPad, it is not surprising that Apple has been nominated.
Facebook and Twitter have also been nominated, which again is not shocking. Social Medias popularity does not look like slowing down anytime soon and with the majority of the other nominees using Facebook and Twitter to promote their brands they are both definitely in the running.
After Waitrose won the Grand Prix category for The Marketing Society Awards for Excellence 2010 back in June, you would expect them to also appear in the Brand of the Year 2010. The supermarket has reinvented itself with its Essentials range and Brand Price Match strategy, which claims to match Tesco on 1000 everyday branded products, highlighting that Waitrose is not just an up-market supermarket. This has certainly helped the Waitrose brand, but the Delia Smith and Heston Blumenthal advertisements have widened their appeal to a broader customer base.
For all of those who need a coffee fix in the morning, Costa has made it into the top twenty. The company has definitely challenged Starbucks with sales growing within the UK. Their first TV advert did receive mixed reviews, especially from animal charities, but it does emphasise that Costa serves good coffee and consumers have agreed.
Finally, Change4Life, the government campaign to encourage people to participate in some form of activity and aims to reduce obesity, is the only not-for-profit brand to be shortlisted. Since its launch in January 2009, 482,955 people have joined the scheme. This is a very promising result for a government campaign and supports Change4Lifes place on the list.
We shall have to wait for the result on the 18th November and see if your favourite brand wins.
